Senior Android Developer – Android Studio, Distributed Applications, Java, Kotlin, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, REST, Cloud & Mobile Backend-as-a-Service, ORM Data Storage, SQL Full Time

Our client for the past decade, one of the world’s leading management technology consulting organizations, is hiring a Senior Android Developer to work in their downtown Toronto office. Senior Android Developers bring deep, hands-on technology expertise to our teams through the architecture, design and building of mobile platforms.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience:

The successful candidate is well versed in developing applications for mobile devices and/or digital out-of-home installations:

• Excellent working experience developing and distributing Android applications using Android Studio written in Java or Kotlin.
• Experience and working knowledge of cloud services, or mobile backend-as-a-service is an asset.
• Deep level of expertise in several of the following is preferred:
  • Android design patterns, industry standards, common best practices for application architecture
  • Analytics and performance monitoring solutions
  • Content management systems (traditional and/or headless)
  • Ecommerce platforms
  • ORM-based data storage, SQL-style relational data, as well as non-relational persistent data storage
  • Native user interface development for all sizes of screens, using platform components and custom views including animations
  • Interactive user interfaces utilizing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Client application persistence of data using recommended platform specific technologies
  • Performance tuning strategy of consumer applications
  • Unit testing, automated UI testing of mobile applications
  • Mobile application security

Requirements:

• 5+ years of industry experience in mobile application architecture, software development, and software systems design
• Strong understanding of computer science and software engineering principles
• Experience working with designers to establish asset pipelines/workflows for mobile applications; including the use of nine patch images
• Experience publishing mobile applications via enterprise channels or public app stores
• Excellent knowledge of working with dynamic data (JSON, XML) over various protocols and transfer types (REST, SOAP)
• Experience leading the performance tuning strategy of consumer applications
• Working knowledge of mobile application accessibility
• Experience working with product managers and creating technical recommendations and approaches to deliver on business requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
